Mário Caetano is a Senior Researcher and Coordinator Researcher at DGT, Deputy Director-General and an Invited Full Professor at NOVA IMS with Expertise in Remote Sensing, Land Cover Mapping, Geospatial Information. He is the coordinator of the National System for Land Cover Mapping (SMOS), of the National Spatial Data Infrastructure (SNIG) and of the National Geodetic Infrastructure.
He Coordinated 40+ research projects, authored 200+ publications, extensive teaching and high-level advisory roles in international organizations. He has been the representative of Portugal in many steering committees and high-level groups of the Unites Nations, European Space Agency and European Commission, related to space, Earth Observation and Research. His expertise in remote sensing and land cover mapping is critical for accurately identifying vineyard areas using satellite imagery.
